Bio

Lézard are a band from Belgium, and in retrospect, that kind of checks out. A country fractured down the middle between Flemish and French-speaking population, confusion ought to be a default state of mind. Their high-wired concoction of post-punk, disco, glam rock, new wave and electro-clash treads that fine line between comedy and tragedy – songs that unravel as both the theatrical release and the cacophony behind the scenes.

Their debut album Que Se Passe t-il is a diorama where the heartbroken, the voyeurs, the drug-addled and the dreamers mingle and sway beneath a shattered mirrorball. On the strength of first batch of singles, kickstarting with the fizzy “Nothing At All”, Lézard built a reputation for spectacle on stages both home and abroad, including festivals slots at Reeperbahn, MaMA Festival, The Great Escape, Nurnberg Pop, Left of the Dial, Pukkelpop, Best Kept Secret, Eurosonic and Radiance.

Lézard - ‘How Does It Feel?’ clip

"Infectiously catchy dance-punk that delivers on every promise."

— DE STANDAARD

"Jaw-dropping! A full-blown dance party! Nothing but bangers!"

— HUMO

Lézard - ‘Happy’ clip

"An irresistible groove machine."

— LA LIBRE

“Lézard’s ‘Que se passe-t-il’ is an ambitious debut album, built to make you dance while also capturing the spirit of our times.”

— DANSENDE BEREN

"It’s hard to keep coolheaded with Lézard."

— DE STANDAARD

"I can't remember ever seeing a band that truly reminded me of Talking Heads or Television—until now. Their sound is angular, incredibly tight, and the songs are outstanding (with opener Coltrane & XTC —a 10 for the title alone— and Manifastique as potential hits)."
